Sentier VTT Le Prieuré d’Aleyrac – 5

D. Depart from Espace Sévigné (salle des fêtes) in Grignan. Climb towards the gendarmerie, continue through vineyards and evergreen oaks to the "La Berre" ford, and take a narrow path up to the Hameau de Bayonne.
1 Cross the stone houses and further on, take a path to the right for a long climb, sometimes made technical and chaotic by stones and cobblestones. Reach "le Graillon" and follow a path through the undergrowth to Le Fraysse, passing the wash-house.
2. cross the road (Careful with cars!) and follow the GR429 slightly uphill, to the edge of the ridge, where you can see the wind turbines, pass the "Fangeas", a beautiful stone house, and reach the pass at "Serre Colon".
3. cross the road (Prudence Voitures!) and continue on the GR along a path with fine views of the Serie mountain; further on, a steep, technical climb leads to a descent, which takes you to the Aleyrac road.
4. be careful with cars! Turn left, then right to reach the magical "Prieuré d'Aleyrac" and its miraculous spring! Follow the path behind the cemetery, which is very steep in its first part, then becomes gentler as you reach the plateau with a beautiful viewpoint, before descending on an often stony path.
5. reach a road and turn right; further on, take the footpath to cross a ford and climb back up to Salle-Sous-Bois; cross this magnificent village by its narrow streets, and continue due south, where you will cross two roads. Watch out for cars!
6. continue straight ahead, and turn left onto a side path, which then leads through undergrowth to Grande Tuilière, the "Montine" winegrowing estate.
7 From here, take a path through the vineyards to the finish, with a superb view of the Château de Grignan!
