Medieval XIIth-XIVth century fortress situated four kilometers from Grignan village. From the top of its tower (33 m) there are fantastic views of the whole region. Built by Dodon of Chamaret and its successors, the original feudal fortress was composed by a keep, 2 living quarters and a chapel.
Description
The site of Les Puys, on which the Chamaret fortress was built, has been occupied since Roman times. The actual construction was carried out between the 12th and 14th centuries by Dodon de Chamaret and his successors. The original feudal fortress consisted of a keep (la Tour) and 2 residential buildings adjoining the keep, one to the north, the other to the west, as well as a chapel to the southeast. View of the entire area from the esplanade and the keep.
The ASTC website presents the Tower and its history, the heritage of Chamaret and the association's own activities. The site presents the activities and entertainment organized to enliven the Tower.
