From the rock with the Virgin Mary statue is a wonderful view of Mount Ventoux and Dentelles of Montmirail. A XIXth century fresco decorates the church. Réauville is the home of Albert Séverin Roche, designated First Soldier of France by Marshal Foch.
Description
The village's name only appears in texts from the 13th century, but its terroir was already part of the "Terres Adjacentes de Provence", and it's likely that the former Cersas (Sarson) estate was christened Réauville in 1280, when the Abbey of Aiguebelle was placed under the protection of the Count of Provence, Charles d'Anjou, brother of Saint-Louis.
The village has preserved a few vestiges of the primitive castral village and many architectural features associated with the new forms of the 16th and 18th centuries.
The Church of Sainte-Marie-Madeleine has been extensively remodeled, and features a mural decoration "in cartouches of various shapes; silhouettes of ancient cities, against the light and in perspective, make up this curious secular decoration, created in 1871 by two monks from the Abbey of Aiguebelle".
