André Blondel CNR Hydroelectric Power Plant

Come and discover the CNR site's energy mix (hydroelectric plant, wind turbines and photovoltaic farms) and understand how water, wind and sun are transformed into 100% renewable energy.

Description

The majestic facade of the complex is a historical monument. There is also a wind farm and two photovoltaic farms. The power station - the most productive of the CNR - currently produces the equivalent of the annual electricity consumption of 815,000 homes.

When visiting Bollène, the visitor will be immersed in the extraordinary history of this facility. They will discover the gigantic and highly technical nature of the installations, as well as the skills of the men and women who ensure the production while guaranteeing the hydraulic safety of the local populations.

The visitor will be able to understand how electricity is produced and get up close to the wind turbines and the photovoltaic power plant. The tour programme includes an outdoor tour with a unique view of the diversion canal, the wind farm, the photovoltaic park and a walk along the lock with its monumental arched gates. An interior tour details the history of the CNR and the site, with photos, films, touch tables and animated models. A scientific and educational gallery then explains how electricity is produced, whether from wind, water or photovoltaic sources. The tour ends with a bird's eye view of the imposing engine room, the living heart of the power station, and an immersion in the old control room, preserved in its original state. Emotions guaranteed!
