Buste Albert Séverin Roche

In 1971, the municipality of Réauville erected a stele with a half-body bust of Albert Séverin Roche, also known as the First Soldier of France, to pay tribute to him.
The bronze bust stands in front of the house where he was born.

Description

Half-body bust sculpted in bronze of soldier Albert-Séverin Roche.
Depicted bareheaded, with his awards on his chest: the Legion of Honor, the Military Medal and, we assume, the Croix de Guerre.
Inscription engraved on the plaque: 1914-1918 / Albert-Séverin Roche / whom Marechal Foch called / the first Soldier of France.
The bust is attributed to M. Girel, sculptor in Valaurie.
It stands opposite the house where he was born, in a small square named after him.
It was unveiled on November 6, 1971.

A second bust was commissioned by the commune. It was unveiled with great fanfare on September 16, 2022. Installed in front of the town hall, he is depicted wearing his Alpine Hunter beret. Created by Eric de Saint-Chaffray in resin and coated with a special bronze-effect paint.
