Salles Sous Bois

The former village center had a circular shape where you can still admire 14th and 15th century facades, Renaissance windows, a wash house and a restored priory. The village is renowned for its broom and lavender fields.

Description

A small village at an altitude of 244 m, Salles-sous-Bois was once a crossroads.
The only two routes linking the Mediterranean basin and the Iberian Peninsula to the rest of Europe crossed the Alps. The village of Salles-sous-Bois, with its many 14th- and 15th-century residences featuring beautiful Renaissance arches and facades, is a long and winding village,
The Chapelle Sainte-Marie-Madeleine, dating from the end of the 14th century, became a parish church.
Numerous forest paths lead you along an old Celtic trail that was once the medieval road from Taulignan to Bégude de Mazenc.
